Sufjan Stevens has his new album Javelin dedicated on Friday to his late partner Evans Richardson. The American singer did this in a rare message about his private life. Until now, it was not known that Stevens was in a relationship.
Stevens is known for his contributions to the soundtrack of Call Me by Your Name. From his album Javelin the singles were released earlier Will Anybody Ever Love Me? in So You Are Tired.
“This album is dedicated to the light of my life, my beloved partner and best friend Evans Richardson,” Stevens wrote on Instagram.
“He was an amazing person, full of life, love, laughter, curiosity, integrity and joy. He was one of those rare, once-in-a-lifetime beautiful people – precious, immaculate and absolutely exceptional in every way.”
Richardson, who worked for the Studio Museum in New York, died in April at the age of 43. It is unknown what caused Richardson’s death.
