The US Department of Commerce has placed 42 Chinese companies on its export control list for supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex. About it reports Reuters, related notice posted in the US Federal Register.
The restrictions were introduced, among other things, due to the supply of American-made microchips, which Russia uses in the guidance systems of missiles and drones used to attack civilian targets in Ukraine.
Companies from Finland, Germany, India, Turkey, the UAE and the UK are also included in the export control list.
“Today’s additions send a clear message: If you supply the Russian defense sector with U.S.-origin technology, we will find out and take action,” said U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod.
Being placed on the export control list means that suppliers must now provide “hard-to-obtain licenses” before shipping goods to entities on the registry, Reuters notes.
