Libreville, October 5, 2023 (AGP) – As part of the resumption of its activities, the Committee of Working Women of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation launched hostilities with the Pink October campaign. A working meeting took place this Thursday, October 5, 2023, to prepare the organization of a workshop on female cancers, in order to raise awareness among women.

The Michel Nzaou meeting room of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation (COSYGA), located in Batavea, in the 3rd arrondissement of Libreville, served as a setting for a meeting to resume the activities of the Committee of Working Women of the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation, chaired by Estelle Blanche Lepanda, president of the said committee.

On the agenda: the organization of a workshop on tools for preventing female cancers to coincide with the Pink October event, the organization of seminars on income-generating activities (AGR) for empowerment of women and others.

The first point was strongly debated, in order to prepare this workshop which fits with the prevention and awareness campaign, which began on October 1 and which will extend until October 31. This offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings throughout Gabon.

So, these hardworking ladies came together to see together how to make their contribution to this global event. Because these female cancers affect more than 80% of women in Gabon. Raising awareness would be important to save lives, given that 8 out of 10 cases, if detected in time, can be cured.
