The State’s Failure to Fulfill Commitments in Nantes-Atlantique Project Raises Concerns

“The observation is unequivocal: the State has not fulfilled its commitments with regard to the Contract for the Future signed in 2019 by Edouard Philippe, following the abandonment of the Nantes-Atlantique transfer project.
After the arrival last Monday in Nantes of the Minister for Transport, Guillaume Garot, deputy for Mayenne, regional councilor and president of the Printemps des Pays de la Loire group, contacted the Prime Minister and asked that “regional elected officials in their diversity as well as representatives large urban areas and intermunicipalities in the region are associated with these new reflections.”
“In view of the issues which go far beyond the scope of the Nantes metropolis, an entire region is awaiting the government’s roadmap for the future of Nantes-Atlantique. The diagnosis, options and decisions on major investments for mobility and the development of our regional territory must be shared as best as possible,” underlines Guillaume Garot, president of the group of elected socialists, communists, public square and civil society.
“After the abandonment of the call for tender procedure, the neglect in the face of non-compliance with the air curfew, the delay in the creation of the connection with Orly airport and the creation of the TGV station at Pont de Rungis, we need to know the government’s intentions. Above all, we need the State to keep its commitments,” continues Thierry Violland, regional advisor and member of the thematic commission in charge of mobility. »
