Villena Health Centers Begin Covid-19 and Flu Vaccination Campaign for At-Risk Population

The Health Centers of Villena will begin next Monday, October 16, the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 and the common flu among the population at risk, as explained today by the mayor of Health, Alba Laserna.

In this campaign, messages will be sent from the Villena I and II health centers, initially to the at-risk population and those over 60 years of age, with information on how to proceed with vaccination. Thus, as the head of nursing at the Villena I center, Liliana Moreno, has commented, the vaccination will be carried out in the mornings from 12 to 2 p.m. in the emergency area from Monday to Thursday and on Fridays in the center’s library from 5:30 p.m. at 8:15 p.m. Thus, people who have not received the message can make an appointment at the health center counter, by phone or through the application. Residents who do not have any pathology could request double vaccination starting December 4.

At the Villena II health center, as the nursing coordinator Paqui Patiño has commented, the vaccination will be carried out in the pyramid of the Bullring, in the week of October during the mornings of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the health center itself and in November the schedules will be specified later.

New vaccines.

The person responsible for Public Health in the Department of Elda, Alejandro Cremades, has announced that this campaign will incorporate two new vaccines into the calendar, against RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) to prevent bronchiolitis in babies and will be given to infants under 6 months and the flu vaccine in children from 6 months to 5 years, since they are the sector of the population, after the elderly, who are hospitalized the most due to this virus. Parents of children between 6 months and 2 years must request flu vaccination at the health center and in the case of the RSV virus, appointments are being made from the center itself.

Alejandro Cremados recalled that vaccination against Covid-19 has reduced mortality and hospitalizations of the population, which is why he invites their inoculation. In addition, he has indicated that the new vaccine is adapted to deal with the new variants of Covid-19.

The generic recommendation for risk groups, older people, people with previous pathologies, caregivers and pregnant women is to apply both vaccines in the same visit to the corresponding medical center. In this sense, he assured that the risks are minimal, that occasionally it generates some slight and temporary discomfort, but that it allows many hospitalizations to be avoided.
