Details: In mid-September of this year, DSR operatives, within the framework of international cooperation, received information from colleagues from Moldova about preparations for a contract killing. A foreigner (according to the UP, a citizen of Israel – ed.) was looking for a killer who would kill a citizen of Ukraine for $15,000.

Operatives and investigators took the information to work and within a few days identified potential victims and the killer, the DSR noted.

They also established the motives and future plans of the customer – the foreigner wanted to take over the Ukrainian’s business, so after the liquidation the men had to kill his wife.

It turned out that before the war the customer rented a premises in Kyiv that now houses a dental clinic. After February 24, 2022, he left Ukraine and stopped paying rent; accordingly, the landlord entered into an agreement with a new client.

It is noted that the killer cooperated with law enforcement officers and, under their control, conducted all negotiations with the defendant. He received US$5,000 as an advance.

The customer was supposed to send another 10,000 after providing evidence of the murder of the clinic owner. He transferred the money through intermediaries: they left it at the location indicated by the defendant, after which the “killer” received a message with coordinates.

To save the lives of the victims, Ukrainian law enforcement officers staged the kidnapping and murder of the dentist, and then the customer received photographic confirmation and transferred the money.

The customer of a particularly serious crime in Odessa was detained.

Law enforcement officers also conducted authorized searches in Odessa and Kyiv of persons who may be involved in the crime.

Now the foreign citizen has been informed of suspicion of premeditated murder by order.

As the UP in the DSR clarified, the court has already chosen a preventive measure for the defendant in the form of detention for 60 days without an alternative to bail.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment from 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment.
