The verbal battle between Denver coach, Michael Malone, and some players from the glamorous Los Angeles franchise continues in the run-up to the 2023-2024 NBA season.
In the final stretch of last season the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a sweep against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
In the midst of the celebration for the NBA championship, Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone hinted that there was a paternity about the Lakers.
These words caused a stir among the Californian quintet and apparently have not yet been forgotten, since these days Austin Reaves pointed out that they had been part of hints dropped by the team after the adverse result last season.
“Everyone knows that what the Nuggets have said since they won the championship has been directed at us,” Reaves said.
Reaves at the same time assured that those words are motivating.
“I think everybody knows it was pointed at us. They can do it indirectly if they want… I think it adds a little bit of motivation to go play really well.”

“They can do it indirectly if they want… I think it adds a little bit of motivation to play really well.”
Faced with this situation, Michael Malone himself broke the silence and heated up the situation even more: “Are they still talking about us? That was about four months ago. If they are still worried about us, it is their problem, and if we are on their mind, I guess the problem is theirs,” Malone said at a press conference.
It seems that during this season there will be a special sting if both quintets meet in the playoffs in the 2023-2024 campaign.
