Yesterday, Samsung introduced new FE products, specifically Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE a také Galaxy Buds FE. Apart from them, today he also introduced the second generation of a smart pendant SmartTag 2which offers a completely new design and, of course, other innovations related to connectivity.
At first glance, it is clear that the South Korean company paid the most attention to the design, as we could already see in the previously leaked renders. The new SmartTag has oval shape and larger metal strap, so it can also be attached to thicker rings and carabiners, you can also count on certification IP67.
In addition to design, however, work was also done on functionality as such. Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 delivers new loss mode, thanks to which contact information or a short message can be entered into the pendant, and if another user finds it (it doesn’t have to be a Samsung, it’s enough if their phone is equipped with an NFC chip), they can scan the pendant, after which they will see the contact information and the message. There are several scenarios where a similar thing can be useful, and they are not limited to backpacks, bags or keys, the novelty can also be used on a dog collar, for example. New mode outing then it records your pet’s favorite routes.

Samsung has completely abandoned GPS technology and relies solely on NFC, Bluetooth a UWB technologie. This is only found in a handful of mobile phones, for example the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but thanks to it you can use new functions Compass View, which will show you navigation to your pendant on the display. Users who often change their phone will appreciate the fact that SmartTag2 is automatically synchronized with your Samsung account, so that even after changing mobile phones (in the case of Samsungs), the tag will work without the need for resetting.

On its blog, Samsung also mentions improved battery life, which lasts on a single charge up to 500 days, which is a 50% improvement over the previous generation. In power saving mode, it will last up to 700 days, but the South Korean company did not mention what restrictions will apply to it. The phone, or the SmartThings application, will then alert you to an unknown pendant, so you can count on prevention against snooping here as well. The novelty is available on the Czech market at a price 999 CZK, a pack of four can be purchased for 3,199 CZK.
