Arrest Made After Violent Incident in Halden; Investigation Ongoing

The police have arrested a person after a violent incident in Halden, the police in Øst reports on X.

– The alleged perpetrator returned to the scene at around 11.30pm on Thursday evening. The person was arrested and has now been taken away from the scene. The trip goes to the arrest, operations manager Håkon Hatlen at the police in the East tells NRK.

The police responded to a serious incident of violence in the center of Halden late on Thursday evening. One person had injuries to the upper body, the police reported on Twitter/X. This person was described as seriously injured.

The police informed NRK that it was allegedly a stab wound. The person was transported to Ullevål hospital by helicopter.

– The medical examination must reveal what the weapon was, but we have reason to believe that the perpetrator used a knife to inflict serious stab wounds on the upper body, continues Hatlen.

On Friday night, the police stated that the victim was out of danger.

– We have received feedback from the healthcare system that the victim who was flown to Ullevål is now awake, stable and out of danger, Hatlen tells NRK on Friday night.

Works through the night

According to the police, there were two people involved in the incident. They were looking for a named person in the cityscape and at a number of addresses that could be relevant. All involved must be in their 40s.

– We are still carrying out forensic investigations at the site and tactical investigation with questioning and further intelligence will continue throughout the night, says Hatlen.

The police do not know anything about the cause of the incident, or what relationship they have.

– Could there be more arrests?

– We cannot rule it out. We are not one hundred percent sure who the perpetrator is. We continue to work at full capacity throughout the night to bring forward the actual conditions, and as clear a picture as possible of what has happened, says Hatlen
