FUJAIRAH, 5th October, 2018 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, confirmed that the emirate has become a global destination for the most important tournaments and sporting events and a station for meeting and sporting competition between champions in various games, thanks to the insightful vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi. Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Fujairah, in the field of sports as an essential pillar in the process of construction and development in the country.
This came during his reception this morning, at Rumaila Palace, by Rafael Santoja, President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the UAE Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, and members of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the World Amateur and Professional Bodybuilding Championships. “Ms & Mr. World” bodies, on the sidelines of the launch of the tournament hosted by the emirate until the seventh of this October, with the participation of an elite group of the world’s most prominent champions and heroines in the sport of bodybuilding, both amateurs and professionals.
During the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince was informed by the President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding about the selection of Fujairah as the World Capital of Bodybuilding, with the approval of the federations concerned with the game, which represent 204 member countries of the International Federation.
His Highness said: “The Emirate of Fujairah continues to achieve success in hosting major sports tournaments that gather around it an elite of the most prominent professional and amateur players by adopting the highest sports policies and practices that contribute to enriching the local sports reality, and play an important role in enhancing the country’s vision and position on the sports scene.” Regionally and internationally.”
His Highness added: “Choosing Fujairah to be the World Capital of Bodybuilding by the International Federation is an affirmation of the great confidence and prestigious position that the emirate enjoys in this field. During the meeting, which was attended by members of the Executive Office of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, the heads of a number of international federations of bodybuilding, and members of the Board of Directors of the UAE Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, His Highness listened to a detailed explanation of the championship programme, the importance it represents and the level of successes it has achieved over the past years. And the value it added to the Emirate of Fujairah, the UAE Federation, and the International Federation of Sport. His Highness was also briefed on a detailed presentation of the programs of the International Federation for Body Building and Fitness regarding the tournaments it holds, and the level of fruitful cooperation that it brings together with the UAE Federation, the International Federation, and the organizing committee of the tournament.
During the meeting, His Highness directed the need to review the various details related to organizing the tournament, and to provide all necessary logistical and organizational capabilities in order to ensure the success of the event and achieve its desired goals in accordance with the highest international standards and practices followed in hosting continental and international tournaments.
