Sony Pictures Core: Stream and Purchase 2,000 Films on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5

Sony is releasing the Pictures Core movie platform for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in select markets. Users can purchase movies through Pictures Core, and free movies are available for PlayStation Plus customers. It is not clear where exactly the service will be available.

Sony Pictures Core is a streaming platform where users can rent and purchase around 2,000 films upon release on October 5. It company mentions including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Certain new films from publisher Sony Pictures Entertainment can also be purchased early via the platform, before the content is made available on other digital platforms. Furthermore, customers of a PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe subscription have the option to stream a selection of roughly 100 films ‘for free’.

According to Sony, the service is available in 23 markets starting today as a rebrand of what was previously called Bravia Core. The company mentions only a few specific markets, including Germany, the United Kingdom and France. It is not clear whether Pictures Core is also available in the Benelux. Sony could not be reached to provide more information about this. Bravia Core has so far been available in the Benelux, although this service was only available on Sony TVs.
