His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture and Youth, said: “The importance of the International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale lies in it being a major international platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences. Since its first participation in 2009, the National Pavilion has succeeded in establishing its position as a beacon that guides the world to the Emirati heritage and highlights… Developments in the local artistic and cultural scene. His Excellency continued: “We will continue to support creative Emirati people to be ambassadors in building bridges of cultural and creative communication with their counterparts from various parts of the world, in line with the UAE’s vision and mission. Empowering the next generation of creators allows us to build bridges of communication with different cultures and provides fertile ground for creativity and the celebration of constructive cultural diversity.”
This came on the occasion of the UAE National Pavilion’s announcement of the selection of Emirati artist Abdullah Al Saadi to represent the UAE in the 60th edition of the International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, whose activities will begin in April 2024. Al Saadi will present a solo exhibition under the patronage of curator Tariq Abu Al Fotouh.
