For his part, artist Taha Desouky said that history is written by the victors, but now, unfortunately, writing history has become available to anyone, especially since we are in the age of social media.
Desouky added during the educational symposium for the Armed Forces in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi: “Some people have appointed themselves historians on their pages… and everyone writes what they want… and you find some saying that Cleopatra has African origins, some claiming that the pyramids were built by aliens, and others claiming The Earth is flat and not spherical, and no sources are consulted.”
He continued: “When we find today, 50 years after the October victory, that there are some people publishing “posts” questioning the victories of the war, it is important that we gather and tell our history as it happened, and continue generation after generation, and document the war through films and songs and remember our heroic soldiers.”
