The Evolution Film Festival opens on October 18th at the Teatre Principal with Isabel Coixet’s new film “One Love”. Meanwhile, another Evolution Icon Award will be announced at the closing gala Susanne Bier awarded that just one Netflix series with Nicole Kidman rotates. Another Oscar winner is the American cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt. He will be honored with the Cinematography Icon Award at the opening gala. He won the Oscar last year for his cinematography on the filming of David Fincher’s “Mank.” And festival director Lipski was proud to announce: “Netflix International is giving us ‘The Killer’, which won’t be released until November, for an exclusive screening here in Mallorca.” The film will be shown on Thursday, October 19th at 6 p.m. at the Rívoli Aficine, followed by a question and answer session with Messerschmidt.
Overall, this year’s festival will… 147 films from 25 countries run. There are 20 world and ten European premieres, 25 premieres in Spain and 25 in the Balearic Islands. Eight productions are competing for the best international feature film. In addition to the opening and closing films, these are “La Roy” by Shane Atkinson, “The Kill Room”, the directorial debut of actress and author Nicol Paone, in which Uma Thurman and Samuel L.
