Rumors of a new Nintendo console keep popping up, and the Switch 2 is reportedly coming sometime next year. However, that doesn’t mean the Japanese company has any plans to drop support for its existing Switch machine.
In an interview with Nikkei (via VGC) Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa recently revealed that the now six-year-old console will continue to receive new games for at least another year and a half.
– We are still working on software for the Switch for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Furukawa said in an interview with Nikkei (via VGC).
The Nintendo Switch was originally launched in March 2017.

The original Nintendo Switch will continue to be the company’s focus through the 2024 fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2024. After that, Nintendo promises continued support for the console for at least one more year, according to Furukawa.
Nintendo has not yet officially commented on the rumors surrounding new hardware. However, developer editions of what is currently referred to as Switch 2 have been shown to selected partners during the past year.
