Fast food restaurant Popeyes has decided to close one of its outlets. This was done after a waiter shared the condition of the outlet’s kitchen.
Generally, each fast food restaurant outlet has its own cleanliness and safety standards. As much as possible, the restaurant always follows standards, starting from keeping the kitchen area clean and securing food ingredients properly.
However, not all fast food restaurant outlets actually follow the specified standards. This is because several outlets were found to have dirty and unhygienic kitchen conditions
Dirty kitchen conditions may not cause problems if the public does not notice them. Unfortunately, several fast food restaurant outlets have been found to have dirty, unhygienic kitchen conditions. One of them is this Popeyes outlet.
The badness of the Popeyes outlet on Showcase Boulevard, Tennessee, United States was initially revealed by an employee there. Tykeia Ransom uploaded a video showing the condition of the restaurant outlet.
In the TikTok video, you can see the condition of the Popeyes outlet which is quite chaotic. There were lots of cockroaches on the walls, floor, sink, even their food. This certainly makes many people reluctant to stop by to eat at this fast food outlet.
The video went viral and attracted the attention of many people. After being caught spreading this bad restaurant condition, Tykeia was fired by the restaurant. He also captured the moment when his manager fired him, reported Atlanta Black Star (27/09).

This woman was fired because she was deemed to have violated Popeyes rules. It is known that this restaurant prohibits anyone from recording parts of its kitchen and prohibits recording anyone working there.
Tykeia didn’t realize that her actions had caused problems. Popeyes also apologized for never providing information like this, but they still fired Tykeia.
Before leaving, Tykeia again uploaded various areas of the restaurant, revealing the very unclean condition of the restaurant. This woman also showed the condition of the food there, including her favorite chicken menu which had been thrown away in the trash.
In fact, during his time working there, Tykeia had attempted to bring this matter to management’s attention. However, he received rejection.
After Tykeia’s video went viral showing the condition of the restaurant, it wasn’t long before the Popeyes outlet wrote a confirmation. According to records stated by the Department of Health, this restaurant has passed health inspections.

After an inspection, actually no problems occurred in this restaurant. However, they decided to keep their outlets closed indefinitely. They will not reopen this Popeyes store until they understand what really happened, and the employees there have been retrained on proper procedures.
“Even though the health department visited us yesterday, and confirmed there were no issues at the restaurant located at 4720 Showcase Blvd, Memphis, TN, we decided to close the store and clean it, and we will not open the store until we understand what happened and team members have been trained “repeat regarding the correct procedures,” explained the Popeyes outlet.
