HMD Global, which manages the Nokia brand name, made a promise at the beginning of the year that they would manufacture 5G mobile phones in Europe, precisely here in Hungary. The first device that rolled off the domestic production line was a limited edition Nokia XR21. So far, only 50 units of the phone have been produced, of which only 30 copies will be available for purchase. Each model is engraved with a unique serial number, and the mobile phone comes in its own special packaging, in a platinum shade.
The original smartphone, the Nokia XR21, was introduced in May of this year, the device is a mid-range model with a resistant design and a cover according to MIL-STD-810H military classification and IP69K rating.
The phone has a 6.49-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, while the panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus against scratches.
The Snapdragon 695 chipset works behind the display. On the back of the mobile, there is a 64-megapixel primary camera, which is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle unit. The hardware components are powered by a 4800 mAh battery, 33 watt charging is supported, the device runs the Android 13 operating system.
The Nokia XR21 Limited Edition will cost 699 euros, or about HUF 270,000. Whether they will later increase the extremely limited number of copies is a good question. If not, that’s okay, because the manufacturer will also sell the simple Nokia XR21 at a price of 649 euros, or HUF 245,000.
Of course, the limited edition phone is only the first in the line, later the production of additional Nokia models may also start in Hungary, but they did not reveal exactly where. Most likely not in Komárom, as the Nokia plant there closed quite a long time ago, production was carried out here from 2000 to 2014.
