Riyadh: Minutes before the execution in Saudi Arabia, the family of the murdered man pardoned the accused. The death penalty was spared in a murder case that took place five years ago in Tabuk. The incident related to the case took place five years ago in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. An altercation between the son of a Saudi citizen named Mutwair Al Atwaiwi and another local youth resulted in the murder of Mutwair Al Atwaiwi’s son. Mutwair then proceeded with legal proceedings to get the maximum punishment for his son’s killer. The Supreme Court and the Appellate Court upheld the death sentence.
With this, the family of the accused has approached the family of the murdered young man several times, asking them to pardon the accused. Many promises were made, including huge sums of money. But the father of the murdered youth stood firm in demanding that the accused be punished. Later, a number of civic leaders came forward with mediation efforts, but the victim’s father refused to back down from the decision or forgive the accused. Finally, the authorities ordered the execution of the accused.
The accused was brought to Al Qizas Square in Tabuk to carry out the sentence. Both the families, civic leaders and locals had come here. Preparations for execution of the accused have also been completed. But just before the execution of the sentence, the victim’s father announced that he would forgive the accused. All those present accepted the announcement by chanting Takbeer or glorifying God. And praised his compassion.
