Kladno has been circling around veteran Radek Smoleňák for several weeks, and has even openly admitted these negotiations. Now, it seems, Smoleňák’s arrival has really caught on.
“The transfer should be official in the next few hours,” writes the Facebook page of Hokejová actuality, which has long-term very accurate information.
The 36-year-old forward has lost his place in Hradec Králové’s starting line-up for this season, having played in only one of seven games so far. In addition, he did not even take advantage of the opportunity to play for partner Kolín, one floor lower in the Chance league.
“The move should be official in the next few hours.”
Despite the two-year contract he signed with Mountfield this February, he received permission from the acting vice-champions to look for another job. Smoleňák was already in contact with Kladno sports manager Jiří Burger before the start of the season, and he is now headed to the Knights.
Smoleňák is fighting for spots in Hradec. His strength? Dirty work in front of goal
If the speculation is confirmed, Smoleňák will return to his parent Kladno after more than eleven years – he last appeared in his shirt in the 2010/2011 season.
