Turkey’s Inflation Surges to 61.53 Percent Year-on-Year: Expert Analysis and Market Impact

Inflation in Turkey rose to 61.53 percent year-on-year in September, the highest level this year, Habertürk TV reported, citing data from the Turkish Statistical Institute.

Turkstat reports annual inflation of 61.53 percent for consumer prices and 47.44 percent for production prices on the domestic market.

On a monthly basis, consumer inflation was 4.75 percent in September.

This is the highest level of annual inflation reported by Turkey for the current year and the third consecutive month of rising inflation. Annual inflation of 58.94 percent was reported in August.

Turkey shocks the markets with a very sharp interest rate hike

The biggest jump in prices in September compared to the same month last year was in the restaurant and hotel sector – 92.48 percent, and the lowest was in real estate – 20.16 percent, “Habertürk” adds.
