Dubai, October 3, 2017 – SailGP announced the return of the Emirates Airline Dubai Grand Prix sailing race to Port Rashid in Dubai on December 9 and 10.
The Dubai Tour constitutes the sixth stage of the international series in its fourth season, which consists of 13 stages around the world, where 50-foot catamaran boats compete for the title of this stage in Port Rashid, in front of a group of the most famous landmarks of Dubai.
This stage is organized in partnership with Emirates Airlines and P&O Marinas, a partner of last year’s edition.
The SailGP International Tour with Dubai includes a group of other prominent international locations, including Bermuda, Chicago, Saint-Tropez, Sydney and San Francisco.
Russell Coates, CEO of SailGP, said: “We are happy to return again to Dubai after the great success of last year, which helps us expand the scope of this sport in the Emirates and the region in general.”
For his part, Adnan Kazim, CEO of Commercial Operations at Emirates Airlines, said that Emirates Airlines has been supporting the sport of sailing for about 20 years, and hosting the SailGP Championship in Dubai confirms the city’s position as an essential stop on the agenda of the international series.
