“The Count of Monte Cristo” is filming at Engarran Castle
#MONTPELLIER – “Stop the engine for noise, filming in progress!” Around the Engarran castle, in Lavérune near Montpellier, cars are asked to stop. For three days until Wednesday, the crew of the film “The Count of Monte Cristo” invests in secret locations. “We are very happy to have been chosen. It’s a great event for Engarran. The sets are magnificent. A first scene with Pierre Niney was filmed this (Monday) morning”, confides Diane Losfelt, owner of the castle . With a budget of €43 million, the film, directed by Alexandre De La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte, is the most expensive of the year in France. And for good reason, the filming, which will take place between Paris, Occitanie, Malta and even Cyprus, requires a lot of costumes and technicians.
The residents of Pissevin will find their buses again
#NIMES – Violence, drug trafficking… And not a single bus since the last deadly shooting on September 12. In fact, since this date, the T2 Nîmes bus line no longer stops in the Pissevin district, in Nîmes. Monday morning, around sixty people, many of them mothers, blocked buses on Avenue Kennedy, in Nîmes. “The neighborhood is systematically abandoned,” says Michel Perfettini, from the Tango pour tous collective. “And we are further reducing public services instead of expanding them!” A mother, whose children are forced to walk to a temporary stop on Avenue Kennedy, worries: “It’s dangerous, it’s far away, soon, it will be dark in the morning at 7 a.m. and in the evening on the way back…” The anger of the residents was heard since Monday evening, an agreement was reached between Nîmes Métropole, Transdev (which manages public transport in Nîmes), the DDSP and the prefecture for a resumption of service in the neighborhood from Wednesday morning.
BTP: SAS Fondeville placed in compulsory liquidation
#PERPIGNAN – The Toulouse commercial court placed SAS François Fondeville in liquidation this Monday. The historic Catalan construction company, whose headquarters is in Perpignan, has liabilities of more than €34 million, according to the judgment. It employs 200 employees on three main sites in the PO, Montpellier and Marseille. SAS Fondeville had already been placed in receivership in 2019. The Toulouse court, however, granted a continuation of activity for three months to complete ongoing projects. A recovery plan is reportedly in the works. The fall of Fondeville could also have cascading consequences for subcontractors in a crisis situation for construction companies.
The number of the day: 3
#MONTPELLIER – Followed by nearly 80% of the workforce, the social movement is unprecedented in its length. Employees of Onet, a company responsible for maintaining the premises of several Montpellier University Hospital sites, began their third week of strike on Monday. In particular, they are asking for a bonus equivalent to a 13th month and a reduction in work rates. They set up their picket in front of the administrative premises of the Lapeyronie hospital, hoping that the public “order giver” would put pressure on Onet.
A rental license soon to be tested
#SÈTE – If you own a home in the city center of Sète, and you wish to rent it out, you will soon need to request permission. From April 1, 2024, the City will test the rental permit, a system resulting from the Alur 2016 law whose objective is to fight against substandard housing. “We will ask for technical diagnostics… Documents which are in theory provided to tenants, but which we will check. In case of doubt, our teams will have 30 days to carry out an inspection visit to the accommodation”, explains Gérard Naudin, municipal elected official.
