Charlotte Sena, a 9-year-old girl who mysteriously disappeared from a New York park while riding a bicycle, was found alive Monday, state police reported.
According to a statement from the authorities, a suspect was arrested.
“We are happy with the news that Charlotte Sena has been located safe and sound this afternoon after several days of intense searching. Our hearts go out to her family who welcome her home,” the statement said.
“Thank you to the New York State Police, the New York Park Police and everyone who has worked tirelessly to find Charlotte. Thanks to your efforts, Charlotte will be able to return home safely to her family,” he adds. The document.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing and did not provide further details about the case.
Search operation for Charlotte Sena is successful
About 400 people participated in the search for a Charlotte, who was with her family in upstate New York.
According to authorities, Charlotte Sena may have been abducted while riding her bicycle Saturday afternoon in Lake Moreau State Park, about 35 miles north of Albany.
The girl was cycling on a park circuit with family friends and then went on a ride alone. Some time later her bicycle was found on the circuit, but Charlotte had disappeared.
The authorities had deployed a strong search operation that included police, firefighters and forest rangers. Additionally, state police also set up several checkpoints on roads near the park.
The park remained closed due to the search, and authorities asked the public who came forward hoping to help to stay away and leave the search to the professionals.
