Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump was present at the initial trial of the fraud case that ensnared him and his child. Trump denounced the fraud case as a sham.
Reported by AFP, Tuesday (3/10/2023) Trump revealed that the fake in question was to thwart his efforts to retake the White House next year. He suspected that the case was related to the election.
“This has to do with election interference, plain and simple,” Trump said as he arrived on the opening day of the trial.
“What we are dealing with here is an attempt to hurt me in the election,” he explained.
New York Judge Arthur Engoron has ruled that Trump and his sons Eric and Don Jr. committed fraud by inflating the value of the Trump Organization’s real estate and financial assets for years. New York Attorney General Letitia James is now seeking a $250 million fine and the removal of Trump and his sons from running the family empire.
“Justice will be served. No matter how powerful you are, no matter how much money you have, no one is above the law, James told reporters.
Trump was not required to attend the opening day of the trial but chose to do so. He sat at the defense table flanked by his attorneys.
“It’s fraud. It’s fake,” he told reporters before entering the Manhattan courtroom.
“My financial reports are phenomenal,” he continued.
