Before the premiere of the film, the usual audience bustle in the foyer of “Forum Cinemas” – director Ilze Kunga-Melgaile of “Manas brībaja” excitedly poses for the photographers, the reception group with all kinds of people. There is laughter, chatter, and at one point I think that in this cacophony I also hear Ita’s sparkling laugh, which accompanied her greeting when she entered the bohemian refuge of the creative people of the time in the “Dieva auss” cafe (then the Planetarium, now the Orthodox Cathedral). It’s the middle of the 80s, with Gorbachev’s perestroika, the winds of Revival are increasingly felt, freer conversations, at the same time without illusions that your acquaintance or even your best friend can push you away. Ita table usually had more people than could fit around it. Among them is the author of these lines, a journalism student at the time. Ita replaced the modern Internet for me – I was fascinated by her universal knowledge, cheerful and at the same time respectful attitude.
