Where to Find Fresh Bread on a Public Holiday in Cologne

Forgot the butter? Or would you like fresh holiday bread? Here you will find what you are looking for in Cologne despite the public holiday.

If you didn’t manage to get your groceries in time before the holiday, you still have a few opportunities to do so in Cologne on German Unity Day.

If you need groceries or cosmetics, you are well advised to take a detour to the main train station. There, for example, “Rewe to go” is open around the clock from midnight to midnight, the “Rossmann” drugstore is open until 10 p.m. and the “Kamps” bakery is open until 9:30 p.m.

The same applies to the shops at Cologne-Bonn Airport, which are open until 8 p.m. or sometimes even around the clock.

Where to go for fresh bread rolls?

The Cologne bakery chain “Schmitz and Nittenwilm” opens many of its branches on public holidays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or even until 5 p.m. The branches located in supermarkets will of course remain closed. There is a detailed overview of all branches and opening times here.
