The Left Scene demonstrated in Hamburg on Monday evening against the celebration of German Unity Day. Around 1,000 people marched through the city center.
Germany is no reason to celebrate, the left-wing scene said at the rally. The demonstration started at the main train station with some delay. At the top there was a larger black block with many masked people, behind it around 1,000 people marched through the city. Not far away, there were thousands of others attending the unity celebrations.
Police stop demonstration several times
The police were on site with numerous forces, and the cavalry squadron was also in action. She repeatedly stopped the demonstration. Among other things, because the demonstrators unveiled a banner that read: “Germany, you lousy piece of shit.” The police did not approve this slogan when registering the demonstration. Initially, the banner was covered with the words “Censored”.
The participants finally walked through the Gänsemarkt and Feldstrasse to the Neuer Pferdemarkt. The rally ended there late in the evening with a few scuffles.
