The Fate of the Jumbo Visma-Soudal Quick Step Merger: Contracts Null and Void, Riders Left Uncertain

The games are done. The merger between Jumbo Visma and Soudal Quick Step will be made official shortly but interesting revelations are coming from the international media on what will be the fate of the new team. More than a merger, L’Equipe underlined, it will be an absorption of the Dutch team which will incorporate Soudal Quick Step to have the sponsors of the Belgian team at its side, but the contracts that Quick Step has put in place for its riders since 2024 they will become null and void. Richard Plugge himself will speak to all the riders under contract, but none of them can feel guaranteed, from Alaphilippe on down. Only Evenepoel had the place secured but, according to L’Equipe, the Belgian has already reached an agreement with Ineos Grenadiers. And everyone else? Already free to look for a team…
