Wopfing (A) The Baumit main plant in Wopfing was a hotspot for numerous visitors from Lower Austria last Thursday. Under the motto “Enter to Win – Come by and be a winner”, Baumit invited people to the “Open Training Workshop Day” and thus gave interested young people, potential career starters and their parents a look behind the scenes of an innovative production company. Baumit placed a clear focus on career opportunities during the “Open Days” organized by the WKNÖ Industry Division and the Lower Austrian Industrial Association.

“The interest of the young visitors was impressive. I hope that we were able to inspire some of you to pursue a career with an apprenticeship at Baumit. Especially since we have a lot to offer for career starters not only here in Wopfing, but also internationally.” , Manfred Tisch, Managing Director of Baumit GmbH, is pleased about a successful event.

Exciting program with deep insights into everyday production
On the “Open Training Workshop Day”, the Baumit trainers and apprentices presented a varied and exciting program to all interested parties: at stations such as metal and electrical engineering, Industry 4.0, industrial clerk as well as guided tours to the areas of blacksmithing and Welding technology, the possible future apprentices were able to discuss with the Baumit apprentices, try out tools themselves and find out which apprenticeship was the most suitable.

“For the Wopfing location, we are primarily looking for career candidates in the areas of metal technicians, electrical engineers, process engineers, mechatronics engineers and industrial clerks. It is important to us that we enable trainees to literally ‘look outside the box’ – to actively acquire new knowledge and skills and also to get to know new ways of working. The range includes everything from classic forging work to 3D printing techniques,” explains Karl Postl, head of training at the Baumit training workshop.

Take advantage of opportunities and start a successful career at Baumit
The training of apprentices has the highest priority at Baumit and has received several awards in recent years. After completing the training, there are good opportunities to start a successful career in the company. “Across Austria, we have been training between 30 to 35 apprentices in various apprenticeships in our training workshop for years. We are particularly pleased that more and more girls are choosing to do an apprenticeship at Baumit. More than a third of all trainees are still employed at Baumit, many of them in responsible positions, says Manfred Tisch.
