Marc Marquez in Talks with Gresini Racing for Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP Move in 2024

Bola.net – Gresini Racing Team Manager, Carlo Merlini, stated that Marc Marquez just had to ask his party if he really wanted to get a Ducati Desmosedici motorbike to ride in MotoGP 2024.

Recently, rumors of Marquez’s move from Repsol Honda to Ducati via Gresini have continued to heat up. It peaked in Japan on Sunday (1/10/2023), after the General Manager of Ducati Corse, Gigi Dall’Igna, stated that Marquez had decided to leave Honda.

Even so, Dall’Igna stated that an official announcement could not be made by Ducati and Gresini because Marquez’s contract with Honda, which actually only expires at the end of next season, was very difficult to terminate a year early.

So far, Gresini has also chosen to remain silent about rumors of Marquez’s arrival. However, passing AS Diary on Friday (29/9/2023), Merlini finally stated that negotiating cooperation with Marquez was actually easy to reach an agreement.

He indicated that Gresini would open the door wide for the eight-time world champion. “Gresini has a Ducati motorbike, and if Marc knocks on the door, the motorbike will be his. Who wouldn’t want to have a racer like him?” said Merlini.

Merlini’s statement was approved by Ducati Lenovo Team Manager, Davide Tardozzi. According to him, it is natural that Marquez wants to drive the Desmosedici, especially after seeing Pecco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi occupy the top three positions in the standings.

Tardozzi even stated that Marquez had the potential to fight with the three riders if he really defended Ducati. “Ducati does everything right with its motorbikes, also with its riders,” said the former WorldSBK racer.

“The reason is, Ducati is now ranked first, second and third in general. Ducati can also get Marc. We know that he is a very good rider, so we’ll see what he can do next year if he comes,” he concluded.

Even so, it is not yet known when Marquez will actually legally resolve his affairs with Honda. MotoGP 2023 itself only has six series remaining, namely Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Qatar and Valencia.
