Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labor, announced today, Monday, that next Thursday, October 5, 2023, will be paid leave for workers in the private sector on the occasion of the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the glorious October victories, in light of the issuance of a presidential decision. Council of Ministers No. 3675 of 2023, which includes Thursday being an official paid holiday for workers in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, the public business sector and the private sector, instead of Friday, October 6, 2023, in the context of ensuring the unification of official holiday dates for all workers. In the various sectors of the state whenever possible to achieve the social and national purpose of official holidays on occasions and holidays.
Shehata said that this leave is with full pay for workers subject to Law No. 12 of 2003. The employer may employ the worker on this day if work conditions require it, and in this case the worker is entitled to double his daily wage in addition to his wage for this day.
On this occasion, the Minister of Labor congratulated all the workers and people of Egypt and the valiant armed forces, stressing that this glorious victory rediscovered the Egyptian nation’s capabilities and the unity of its ranks in facing challenges and creating miracles through the sacrifices and heroism offered by its people.
According to the press release, the Ministry issued a periodic letter to the labor directorates in the governorates, signed by Khaled Abu Bakr, Head of the Central Administration for Workforce Welfare, and Dr. Hanan Ahmed Ali, Director General of the Ministry’s General Department of Labor Relations, in order to put its provisions into effect and follow up on the implementation of this license at work sites and production facilities and companies.
