Contemporary Art Exhibition featuring Ai Weiwei’s Thought-provoking and Provocative Works

The exhibition includes 120 works created in the period from 1980 to the present day. For example, the world-famous work “Sunflower seeds” is exhibited, which consists of a surface with more than 1000 kilograms of hand-painted porcelain sunflower seeds. The artist paraphrases the words “Made in China” in this way.

Here you can see a bicycle without handlebars, which indicates the authorities’ desire to regulate people’s lives, as well as a flying snake made from the backpacks of schoolchildren who died in the earthquake.

In the early eighties, Weiwei went to America to study as a director and was also inspired by the works of Andy Warhol, the “father” of pop art. However, the peculiar and sometimes provocative form is not an end in itself.

Weiwei emphasizes that art tells the truth, but at the same time it is revenge. It is not easy for millions of people to survive in a very harsh environment, and he was also detained and spent a long time under house arrest.
