Al Dhafra, on the 1st of October / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club, honored the government and private agencies sponsoring, supporting and participating, “Partners of Success.” In the second session of the “Liwa Dates Festival and Auction”, which was held in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region during the period from September 21 to October 1.
The honoring ceremony was attended by Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director of Planning and Projects Department at the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee, Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Director of Events and Communications Department at the Committee, representatives of the supporting, sponsoring and participating bodies, a number of farmers participating in the competitions and visitors to the festival.
Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei extended his thanks and appreciation to the success partners, including sponsors and supporters, most notably the Office of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Al Dhafra Region Municipality and Al Ain City Municipality, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, the Abu Dhabi Police, and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council. He also expressed his thanks to the guest of honor of the second session, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which was distinguished by its presence at the festival through a number of shops in the Jordanian Dates Village, which brings together Jordanian farmers and date producers with their Emirati brothers in an image that confirms the historical relationship that brings together the two countries, and strengthens the partnership in the field of agriculture and date cultivation. In particular, in addition to the traditional artistic performances presented by the Ma’an Folklore Troupe, it presented to the festival visitors various paintings that reflected an aspect of the popular heritage of the various governorates of Jordan.
The Liwa Dates Festival and Auction site included 17 pavilions for sponsors, supporters and participants from government agencies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which interacted with the festival audience and presented to them an aspect of their interest in palm trees and Emirati heritage, and many diverse events and interactive segments, in addition to educating the public about the importance of agriculture and highlighting the most prominent Technologies and research in the field of palm trees in particular and agriculture in general.
