While Turkey’s ambassador to the US, Murat Mercan, was on the podium, a group committed sabotage. An Armenian provocateur verbally attacked the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, Ramil Gurbanov. The group was removed from the hall by the intervention of security guards. This time, the Armenian group made noise outside the conference hall and tried to prevent the speeches inside. The provocative attack continued even after the end of the conference. While leaving the building, Sharaf Atesh, the head of the Yunus Emre Institute, Ismayil Demirazan, the Los Angeles religious services attaché of Turkey, and Saner Ayar, the media manager, were verbally and physically attacked by the demonstrators outside.
