Explosion at Ministry of Home Affairs in Ankara: Turkish Government Provides Confirmation

The Turkish government provided related confirmation explosion in the capital Ankara. The point of explosion turned out to be in front of the entrance to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

“In front of the entrance to the Directorate General of Security at the Ministry of Interior,” said the Turkish Minister of Home Affairs, as reported by the AFP news agency.

The incident occurred at 09.30 am local time. The Turkish Minister of Home Affairs said there were 2 suspected terrorists driving the car.

“Two terrorists drove a vehicle and carried out a bomb attack,” he said.

It was reported that 2 police officers were injured as a result of the incident. Previously, an AFP correspondent reported that the explosion was heard from the direction of parliament which was scheduled to open its session.

Turkish media also reported that gunshots were heard from the location. Security forces reportedly rushed to the scene.
