And its subgenres are very varied. So this time, in addition to talking about four artists from different countries, they will also be artists who play some kind of rock. I think that that way you will like all the songs you find here if you like the genre.
We started in Chile with Infame and his song ‘Un Paso Adelante’, a Latin rock with good vibes that borders on hard rock enough to appeal to the most rockers. They have been active since 2018, which means they have had five years to perfect their sonic style and ‘Un Paso Adelante’ is a great demonstration of what they can do. I highly recommend listening to it, it’s so good that even if we remove the lyrics (which by the way, I love, especially the chorus) and leave only the instrumental production, it’s still a great song.
We’re going to Sweden with Johnathan Christian and his single ‘Résistance Mon Amie’. Rebellious and futuristic post-punk, with a dreamy initial build up. It also reminds me of some artists from the 90’s, but more so those who played slower, softer rock. I like it, the way the lyrics travel with the pacing and the striking motif they have.
Venezuela is the next country on the list, with MOSSO and their single ‘Almas Libres’. Rock that feels spiritual but isn’t, but boy does it feel that way. It must be very cool to listen to live, I can feel it. It is the song that the band released to begin giving voice to their new album. I feel like it belongs to the soundtrack of the movie “Spirit: The Indomitable Steed”, which curiously praises the same themes as the song: Freedom, bravery, passion and dreams. Very inspirational.
We close in Ireland with TV People and their song ‘Feel’, a kind of psychedelic post-punk, with very vulnerable, almost shy lyrics, that talk about the repression of feelings. It is sad, deep and a search for meaning that I am very sure many of us can identify with. “I need to feel alive” is a line that is repeated so much and you don’t know how much I needed to hear it today, because I couldn’t find a song that would explain that feeling or that would understand me. Now I found it, and that definitely makes me feel better, so thank you, thank you TV People for such a beautiful exhibition of feelings.
