International flights should be booked about 60 days in advance (and no more than 4 months before the flight) for optimal availability and savings (around 10% on average), according to the 2024 Expedia Air Travel Hacks Report.

Travelers who booked 28 days before departure saved an average of 24% compared to those who waited until the last minute.

But the cheapest day to travel internationally is Thursday, which could save tourists 16 percent more than if they traveled on Sunday, the most expensive day. On the other hand, in domestic flights, the flight on Saturday will save 13% compared to Sunday.
