There were already reports of the 33-year-old’s retirement from cycling, and he announced his decision on Saturday, but has not yet revealed where he will continue.
“All I can say is that I’m leaving the team” – said Roglic, who still had a valid contract until the end of the next season. The cyclist is currently concentrating on the following races, first of all the Giro dell’Emilia, in which Valter Attila will also compete in his team.
The Slovenian competitor has been a member of Jumbo-Visma since 2016, and won the Vuelta a Espana three times (2019, 2020, 2021) for the team, and won the Giro d’Italia this year. In 2020, he finished second in the Tour de France after wearing the yellow jersey for 11 days.
After a memorable ride together, Team Jumbo-Visma grant Primoz Roglic the opportunity to pursue his ambitions elsewhere in the future. First, all focus will be on the upcoming Italian races. Gremo! pic.twitter.com/bIWc0Q5tjU
