Blendid, a leader in robotic food service solutions, has expanded its reach by opening autonomous robotic smoothie kiosks at two community colleges in California. The initiative is part of Blendid’s ongoing efforts to bring its robotic kiosks to college campuses across the United States.
West Valley-Mission College District has partnered with Blendid to open two kiosks on its campuses. District Chancellor Brad Davis expressed the importance of providing easy access to healthy eating options for students and faculty. He believes that robotic food kiosks like Blendid’s can offer freshly made smoothies 24 hours a day, meeting the needs of the campus community during late classes, early morning study sessions and even balancing college and work shifts.
Blendid kiosks are now integrated into campus dining services offerings at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA and Mission College in Santa Clara, CA. Blendid has been steadily increasing its presence in the college market and has previously opened kiosks at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, GA and UCLA.
Vipin Jain, CEO and co-founder of Blendid, emphasized that college students value convenience and are actively looking for faster and easier ways to access fresh and nutritious food options. Blendid aims to become the standard option in college dining by meeting these demands and providing students with the food they want, when they want it.
Blendid kiosks use Blendid’s contactless food automation platform foodOS, which incorporates machine learning, robotics and artificial intelligence technologies. With this technology, each robot can make up to nine smoothies simultaneously and up to 45 custom blends in one hour. It provides fast and fresh made-to-order cocktails that are usually ready in less than four minutes.
Customers can place their orders directly on the kiosk’s touch screens or through the Blendid app, which also allows you to schedule a pick-up time. The kiosks will be located in the Campus Center building on both the Mission College and West Valley College campuses, and hours and offers will be prominently displayed in the Campus Centers and on the Blendid app.
As Blendid continues to expand its presence in the college market, the company hopes to see students interacting with its robots at new community college locations in Silicon Valley.
