Shortly after the final whistle of Genoa-Roma, the Grifone players celebrated under the North Stands a great victory. Among the many moves, one appeared bolder than the others and, apparently, sparked reactions from many Roma fans: Junior Messias’ selfie. The Brazilian’s gesture was, in fact, reminiscent of Francesco Totti’s self-portrait after a goal scored in the derby. Messias, interviewed by Cronache di Spogliatoio, clarified: «Given the background that was created by the selfie with the fans, I wanted to reiterate that I had no intention of making fun of an idol of Rome and of football all over the world. On social media everyone writes what they want and this discomfort has been created, but we just wanted to enjoy a great evening with our fans.”
