Details: Armenia in a lawsuit asks the International Court of Justice for temporary measures that Azerbaijan is obliged to implement due to, as Yerevan claims, discrimination against the Armenian population of Karabakh.

Among other things, Baku is required to withdraw all military and law enforcement personnel from all civilian institutions in Nagorno-Karabakh, facilitate access for the UN mission and the Red Cross to the region and provide public services.

Armenia also wants Azerbaijan to be obliged to “refrain from punitive actions against current or former political representatives or military personnel of Nagorno-Karabakh,” not to destroy any monument to the Armenian genocide of 1915, and to recognize documents issued by the authorities of the unrecognized “Nagorno-Karabakh.”

What preceded: On September 28, the so-called president of the unrecognized Armenian republic in Karabakh signed a decree according to which all its institutions and organizations cease to exist on January 1, 2024. This was preceded by a one-day operation by Azerbaijan, which led to the surrender of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh forces.

As of Friday, September 29, about 100,000 of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, out of the 120,000 estimated before last week’s fighting, had been forced to leave their homes.

“EuroPravda” spoke in detail about the latest events in the region in the article “Third Karabakh”.
