The Court of Arbitration for Sport said in a statement on Thursday that the hearings in the doping case of figure skating competitor Kamila Valeeva were postponed until November 9 and 10, after a committee of arbitrators requested more documents. .

The International Ski Federation appealed to the Sports Court, after a Russian investigation concluded that she was not guilty of any doping-related violation, despite his admission that she had failed a test to detect a substance banned in sports.
In her defence, Valeeva said that the positive result of the doping test was the result of a mixture with her grandfather’s heart medication.
The statement said: “After the parties presented evidence, the committee requested more documents, and in order to allow everyone to study these documents, it was decided to postpone the hearings to a later time. To consider appeals.
“The hearings will be held on the ninth and tenth of November 2023 in Lausanne, after which the committee will study the case and prepare its final decision.”
The International Olympic Committee allowed Valeeva to participate in the women’s singles competitions, despite her positive test, but said that team competition medals would not be distributed until her case was settled.
The United States won the silver medal behind the Russians, Japan won bronze, while Canada ranked fourth.
This new postponement was frustrating for the American team, which is still waiting for justice to be achieved.
For her part, Tracy Marek, CEO of the US Figure Skating Federation, said in a statement: “Figure skating in the United States is extremely disappointed by the news of the postponement of the hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
She added: “While we recognize the complexities of the case and the time requirements of the legal process, waiting for nearly 600 days, without reaching a resolution, is undoubtedly another painful setback for our contestants.” She continued: “We stress the importance of transparency in this matter. “Because it greatly affects our athletes.”
On the other hand, the Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada) concluded that Valeeva committed a violation for which she “cannot bear any fault or negligence.”
The International Ski Federation is seeking to obtain a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport to annul Rosada’s decision, punish Valeeva, and exclude its results.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which is seeking a four-year ban, as well as the exclusion of all Valeeva’s results from that date, also expressed some frustration that the case was being postponed again.
WADA said in a statement: “Due to the confidentiality of the procedures, WADA is not allowed to comment further on the postponement announced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, earlier today.”
She continued: “However, as it has done at all stages, it will continue to press for an end to these procedures as soon as possible.”
