Her Majesty Queen Máxima attended the anniversary benefit gala of the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam on Thursday evening, September 28. The benefit evening was organized on the occasion of the center’s fifth anniversary.
Various artists performed during the evening. Proceeds from the gala will go to projects in the field of talent development and immunotherapy within the Princess Máxima Center.
Cancer is the most common cause of death from childhood illness. Approximately 600 children in the Netherlands get cancer every year. One in four children with cancer dies. The Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht’s mission is to cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. It is the largest pediatric cancer center in Europe. By integrating care and research, more children with cancer have a chance of recovery with fewer adverse effects later in life.
