There will be many cases where your home is empty during this holiday season, so please be careful of ’empty house burglars’.
The person who came to view the house with a real estate agent turned out to be a professional thief.
Reporter Jeong Jeong-ju tells us what kind of method was used.

A man came to look at a house with a real estate agent.
After looking around the outside for a while, I came back alone the next day.
However, instead of going to the house he was looking at, he went up the stairs next door and disappeared from the surveillance camera.
The man who went up to the third floor of this building removed the bathroom window of the building next door, which he had seen the day before, and entered the house.
The goal was that the two buildings were right next to each other.
The man stole items worth 12 million won from the house he broke into and escaped leisurely.
I even put back the window that had been removed.
As it turned out, while touring the house with a real estate agent, I confirmed in advance that the owner would be away for about two days and took my time.

The man caught at the sauna two weeks later was a ‘professional thief’ with a record of theft.
Two years after his release from prison, he chose an empty house and committed another crime.
During the holiday season, people are often away from home for several days, so there is a high risk of burglaries from empty homes.
Last year, there were over 700 reports of theft during the Chuseok holiday.
The police detained this man on charges of home invasion and theft.
