New York to Invest $100 Million to Transition School Buses to Zero Emissions

New York, Sep 28 (EFE).- The state of New York will invest a sum of 100 million dollars to eliminate the fleet of school buses with combustion engines and replace them with other “zero emissions” ones, as announced this Thursday by the Governor Kathy Hochul.

This item is part of the state plan to eliminate the circulation of buses with combustion engines in 2035, the date on which all combustion vehicles in the state must disappear, with a prior step of prohibiting the sale of these buses in 2027.

The aid will go to manufacturers, distributors or owners of bus fleets, to allow them to cover the expense of decommissioning old vehicles and replacing them with electric ones.

This aid announced today is part of the state investment of more than one billion dollars in the next five years to change the fleet of trucks, cars and coaches, whether publicly owned or private, whose owners will have access to aid to change their vehicles.
