In the midst of the onslaught of so many shooter games that publishers hope can become live-service games that bring in large and consistent amounts of money, remembering which new titles are standing under whose banner is starting to become a difficult task. For example, how many of you remember Hyenas? This shooter game which stands under the SEGA banner with Creative Assembly as the person in charge does come with a quite unique teaser. With a concept similar to Payday but where you end up stealing SEGA memorabilia against other teams while fighting with the AI, Hyenas went through a tortuous development process. The bad news? You won’t even be able to taste it.
Coming as surprising news, especially considering the fact that SEGA and Creative Assembly had brought it to be tested by gamers and the media at Gamescom 2023 yesterday, it turns out that Hyenas will not “see the light”. SEGA confirmed that the development process for this game was canceled along with several other projects that they had not had time to announce. The reason? Straightforward. SEGA said that the data clearly shows that the potential profits are low from their European branch companies, including Creative Assembly. There is no additional information about the various other projects they canceled.
SEGA officially cancels shooter game – Hyenas.
Hyenas itself was planned to be released in 2023 also for the console and PC markets. How about you? Have you been looking forward to this series?
