Baek In-cheol (23, Busan Jung-gu Office) became the first Korean athlete to win an Asian Games gold medal in the men’s 50m butterfly swimming.

Baek In-cheol won the men’s 50m butterfly final at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games Swim Management held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center in Zhejiang, China, on the 28th, setting a new competition record of 23.29 seconds.

The only Korean athlete to have won a medal in the men’s 50m butterfly, which has been an official event at the Asian Games since the 2006 Doha Games, was Yang Jeong-du, who took third place in Incheon in 2014.

Baek In-cheol surpassed Yang Jeong-du and achieved Korea’s best performance in this event at the Asian Games.

With Baek In-cheol’s victory, Korean swimming management achieved four gold medals, tying the most in a single Asian Games history.
