The name of Pēters Pētersons is recorded not only in the Golden Fund of the Fine Arts Theater, but also in the canon of Latvian culture as a whole. Spectators remember the performances “Spēle, spēlmani”, “Tikai muzikants”, “Shining and dark blue” and others with songs and music that were able to express what could not be expressed directly in words, but what people of that time needed to hear.
In the performance, the texts of several plays by Pēter Pētersons will be interwoven with songs by well-known composers, specially written for the performances created by him. Actor Klāvs Kristaps Koshins will be seen in the main role in the concert performance, who will also be Klāvs from Peterson’s play “Tikai muzikants”.
Juris Vaivods: “In my memories, Pēteris Pētersons is like a bright meteor who, with his personality charm and unique voice, set off sparks at every public event. For the materialization of his creative ideas, Peterson gathered around him a constellation of equal personalities – whether they were scenographers or composers. His time in the theater world is connected with the search for new paths in theater art, as well as the search for bright talents. He had a special collaboration with such brilliant composers as Raimonds Pauls, Imants Kalniņš, Imants Zemzaris, Pēteris Vasks, Andris Dzenītis, etc.
Viesturs Kairišs: “Pēteris Pētersons is one of the greats of our theatre. The artist was always at the center of his world. Commemorating the director’s centenary, we are talking about Peterson’s personality as well as what the artist’s path was then and what the artist’s path is in general – today and in the future. If we would like to answer the question in one sentence, what is Peterson’s greatest contribution to Latvian theatre, then it is poetic theatre. Peterson created the concept of “poetic theater”; it can be understood differently at any time, but it is precisely his work, his idea. We created the composition of this concert performance by combining four of Peterson’s plays and using the stage medium – poetic theater.”

Musically, the production is complemented by pianist Matīss Žilinskis and the choir “Until…”.
