Indonesia Heart Walk 2023 Breaks MURI Record for Feeling Your Own Pulse – Jakarta News

Jakarta

Apart from carrying out a healthy walk, the participants of the Indonesia Heart Walk 2023 also broke the MURI record for the action of Feeling Your Own Pulse (‘Dancing’) at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Thursday (28/9/2023). The record that was broken was ‘Dancing’ simultaneously with the highest number of participants in Indonesia.

The number of participants in the action of Feeling Your Own Pulse was attended by 5,987 people. The award was given by MURI representatives to PERKI and YJI as event organizers.

In connection with this record-breaking action, a heart specialist and President of the Indonesian Heart Rhythm Society (InaHRS) Dr. Sunu Budhi Raharjo, SpJP(K) said that this simple step could be an early detection of heart disease. With earlier detection, appropriate treatment can be given more quickly.

“DANCE is a simple way of feeling our own pulse with three fingers placed on the right or left wrist up to the pulse, in 30 seconds count the number of pulses,” said Dr. Suni at the Indonesia Heart Walk 2023 event, Thursday (28/9 /2023).

“The number is then multiplied by two to determine the number of pulse beats in one minute. DANCING is done while resting, if we are exercising, our pulse rate will normally increase,” he continued.

Normally, a person’s pulse rate is 60-100 times in one minute. Dr. Sunu explained that this must be made a habit so that people can immediately realize if there is a problem with their heart.

“There are three things that are not normal. The first is too slow, namely less than 60 times a minute. The second is too fast, namely more than 100 times a minute,” he said.

“Then what is no less important, thirdly, is that we have to know whether our pulse is regular or irregular. Irregularities in our pulse are one of the early signs of heart rhythm disturbances or arrhythmias called atrial fibrillation. This has a higher risk of causing stroke,” he concluded.
