The national team, with Lee Kang-in as the starter and coordinating the attack, took the opportunity to score the first goal by scoring an early penalty kick.
Captain Baek Seung-ho, who took the kicker, shook the net with a sharp shot that hit the corner of the goal.
As soon as the first goal was scored, the national team scored an additional goal with Jung Woo-young’s header just one minute later.
However, in the 28th minute of the first half, a mistake from midfield gave Kyrgyzstan a goal and allowed them to chase.
This is Korea’s first goal conceded in this tournament.
Although they suffered an unexpected blow, the national team regained momentum in the second half when Jung Woo-young completed a penalty kick earned due to a handball foul by the opponent.
While Kyrgyzstan’s concentration was shaken, Cho Young-wook widened the score gap with a powerful shot, and Hong Hyun-seok put an end to the game, advancing to the quarterfinals with a 5-1 victory.
With the national team’s quarterfinal opponent decided to be the host country, China, coach Hwang Sun-hong expressed strong confidence.
North Korea advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Bahrain 2-0 with back-to-back goals from Kang Kuk-cheol and Kim Kuk-beom.
